  • FAA FLIGHT DISPATCHER COURSE

    Introduction:
    In recent years, scheduled, non-scheduled and air taxi operations have increased considerably. Airlines / Operators are engaging flight dispatchers / operations officers for obtaining ATC and MET briefings and brief the pilots / Captain of the aircraft accordingly and also in preparing flight-plans etc. In order to ensure safety of aircraft operations and to have uniform and desired level of proficiency standards of Flight Dispatchers / Operations Officers. The Director General of Civil Aviation has issued Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) under Section 5A of Aircraft Act 1934 and Rule 133A of the Aircraft Rules 1937 to set out the requirements to impart necessary training to these officers.

    Requirement of Flight Dispatchers / Operation Officers:

    If Flight Dispatchers / Operation Officers are used by an operator for briefing of plots and finalization of flight planning, they should be fully trained and approved as per the requirements of CAR.

    Duties of Dispatcher:

    A Flight Dispatchers serves as a Co-Ordinator and a center for the collection of all available information on which Plans and Decisions are made for the most efficient operational control of the company's aircraft with utmost Safety.

    For instance he gathers information (1) Flight Plans, (2) Navigation Card, (3) Take-off Computation Card, (4) NOT AMS (5) Meteorological charts for destination and alternate airports, (6) Fuel distribution forms and ultimately briefs the Pilot-In-Command before the flight departs.

    The Flight Dispatchers maintains Radio communication with the flight at all times during the complete duration of the flight. After departure of the flight, Departure message is given to appropriate stations.

    The Flight Dispatchers Course is for a period of Six Months. At the end of Six Months a Candidate has to pass a written examination conducted by The Skyline Aviation Club. The passing marks are 80%.

    Following subjects are covered during the course:

    1. Navigation General.
    2. Flight Planning.
    3. Radio Aids and Instruments.
    4. Meteorology.
    5. General Performance - Airplane.
    6. Specific Aircraft Performance (Boeing - 737/200-400)
    7. Regulations.
    8. Aeronautical Information / Route Manual.
    9. Aerodrome operating minima.
    10. Crew briefing techniques.
    11. Advisory information to Aircraft in Flight.
    12. Communications.
    13. Crew Administration

    Requirements for Approval of Flight Dispatchers :

    After passing final examination of Club the candidate will be required to undergo training with our affiliated Training Organization in United States of America. If candidate is desirous of converting his FAA Flight Dispatchers License into Indian one, then the Candidate has to apply for a Viva (Oral) test with the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India and pass in it and this will qualify him for a job as an approved Flight Dispatchers in the Flight Dispatch Section of an Airline.

    The other factor in the making of a flight Dispatcher is that he / she has to be all-round conscious regarding Flight Safety. The Captain is fully dependent on the correct briefing supplied by him / her in the safe and smooth conduct of flight. Further, the candidate has to be hard working and of cheerful disposition.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    (a) Age :- Minimum age for entry is 18 years, No upper age limit. NO SEX BAR.

    (b) Educational Qualification :-XII Pass or Appeared.

    (c)Student currently studying in XI / XII (Sc.) can be considered.

    Duration (A) : 1 Year for XI Students
    Day to Attend: Sunday Morning 10 AM to 1 PM

    Duration (B) : 6 Month for XII Students
    Day to Attend: Saturday Evening 3 PM to 6 PM
    Sunday Morning 10 AM to 1 PM

    Duration (C) : Summer Vacation - 2 Months for students appeared for SSC Board Exam.
    Day to Attend: Tuesday to Sunday Morning 10 AM to 1 PM

    This course is specially designed for XI / XII (Science) Students. This course helps Students to get trained for a most rewarding career in Aviation while they are studying in Higher Secondary School.

    During academic studies of Higher Secondary School student can prepare for a career in Aviation without disturbing academic studies.
